Description:
The upcoming album of Baltic Neopolis Orchestra including works by Mikołaj Górecki and Paweł Łukaszewski is a result of both very honorouble and challenging task. Tomasz Tomaszewski, excellent violinist from Deutsche Oper in Berlin, joined the ensemble. This record features compositions by Mikołaj Górecki: Concerto-Notturno for violin and string orchestra, Divertimento for string orchestra; and Paweł Łukaszewski: Sinfonietta, Adagietto and Lenten Music (dedicated to Baltic Neopolis Orchestra). The album has been released by DUX Recording Producers.
Undoubtedly, music runs in veins of Mikołaj Górecki, born in 1971. One might think that as a son of Henryk Górecki he is burdened enough, but it is not so. Mikołaj is his own man or "own composer", inspired by both various contemporary and past influences. Although he lives and works far from modern Polish trends, Górecki remains aware of his roots and heritage.
Compositions of Paweł Łukaszewski, who is three years older than Górecki, distinguish themselves from others written by the young composers not only due to their stylistic genuineness, but also because of a perfect sense of choral music and complete facture mastery.
Works of the two composers are well known all over the world. Their compositions have been performed at many prestigous festivals and awarded with numerous awards.
17-year-old Górecki won the first prize at the 1st Bielsko-Biała Young Composers Competition. His compositions have often been performed abroad – in De Ijsbreker Centre in Amsterdam, Lincoln Center in New York, Montreal, Quebec City, Victoria, Edmonton, Washington, D.C. The musicians cooperating with Górecki include Kaja Danczowska, Jadwiga Kotnowska, Agnieszka Duczmal, Gabriel Chmura, the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra, and the Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra in New York.
This year Łukaszewski was awarded with Polish music award Fryderyk. He has received the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, Silver Medal for Merit to Culture - Gloria Artis, Primate of Poland Award. His works have been performed (and some premiered) by such renowned choral ensembles from London and Cambridge as The Holst Singers, BBC Singers, Trinity College Choir, Tenebrae, Britten Sinfonia and Polyphony.
During album release concert the new video for four parts of Sinfonietta by Paweł Łukaszewski will have its premiere. This will be a next step in the common area of classical music and music industry.
The special guests of the concert will be: Paweł Łukaszewski, Małgorzata Polańska (owner of DUX) and prof. Tomasz Tomaszewski.
